Prerequisites and Setup

The following prerequisites must be met to set up and operate maintenance processes effectively.

These prerequisites cover:

  • the data and configuration required to create maintenance tasks, and
  • the DataPlatform setup required to manage and assign those tasks.

Telematics Data

Telematics data for maintenance execution is collected and processed by the DataPlatform.

Maintenance can be based on the following signals:

  1. Machine operating hours.
  2. ECU-indicated maintenance (e.g. hours to next service counter)
  3. Wear indication such as brush diameter.
  4. DTCs - Diagnostic Trouble Codes. When specific DTCs occur, maintenance tasks can be scheduled.

Machine Model Alignment

Maintenance tickets usually contain a description or a list of activities needed which are specific to the machine models. Machine models configured in the DataPlatform must be aligned with the maintenance requirements of the corresponding machines.

Maintenance Catalog

Maintenance processes rely on maintenance catalogs that define intervals, activities, and required materials. The OEM's maintenance manuals' prescription are translated into a digital format that can be used by the Maintenance Planner in the DataPlatform.

For details, see Maintenance Catalog.

DataPlatform Setup

For efficient maintenance organization, service personnel from service centers must be represented in the DataPortal.

This includes:

This enables better workload distribution across the service organization by assigning individual maintenance tasks to service personnel.

Task Management

Maintenance tickets must be monitored by operational staff.

This is required to:

  • schedule maintenance activities with the machine owner
  • support the coordination of service execution, especially when no regular service contract with the service center is in place.

This ensures that service centers maintain a continuous and well-balanced workload and that upcoming maintenance activities are executed in a timely manner.

It can also support the identification of opportunities for additional service offers and spare parts sales.

Process Alignment

Maintenance processes should be aligned among all stakeholders (partners, service and operational personnel), to ensure consistency and efficiency.

This includes understanding the specific tooling that will be used and the business processes that are part of efficient maintenance business processes.
